It is my sad duty to announce that based on a post on a longtime trusted member of another forum, Robotunit8 / Merry Brooks / Steph passed on in early November from her longstanding battle with cancer.
She was extremely prolific on other sites with writing and reviews and communicating on various forums and will be dearly missed.
I can't tell you how many afternoons I waited, eagerly and hopefully, for your reviews. "Definitely enjoyed" was an honour unto itself, and "high end of definitely enjoyed"? Pure heaven. I'm sure I'm not the only writer whose heart and spirit were lifted by your kind, helpful, and cheerful comments, Merry.
Whether it was here, or the Forum, or the Garden, you made new authors feel at home, and returning authors feel as if they'd just arrived back home. Your stories are wonderful examples of the craft, filled with great characters, hot scenes, and a touch of humour that's uniquely Merry.
I'm not sure what we'll do without you. We'll try to make you proud, I suppose. We'll keep on writing, and reviewing, and supporting our fellow authors, because those are the things you did best, and our world is so much better for it.
Here's wishing you- and undoubtedly, your new best friend Harlean Harlow Carpenter- all the best wherever you may find yourself now. May it come with a mind-control helmet, a silvery robotic bodysuit, and all of the peace and joy you've truly earned in your life.
Hoping we meet again someday.
